AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

Investigators arrested a 5th person Wednesday in the double-murder of a Sumter County mother and son.

Officers arrested Demetrious Hubbard and charged him with murder in the case.

Hubbard's arrest comes after four other suspects were denied bond in a first appearance Wednesday afternoon.

Ruhemmeion King is also charged murder.

Investigators said he shot Dallas and Bonnie Freeman several times, before setting their house on fire Friday.

The three other men arrested, Reginald Mathis, Brandon Prince, and Qwinterrious Dodson were charged with theft by receiving stolen property.

Mathis and Dodson were also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Investigators said they had been out searching for other persons of interest all afternoon Wednesday.

The bodies of Bonnie Freeman, 54, and Dallas Freeman, 33, were found at the scene February 27.

Dallas Freeman's truck was found abandoned in Joyce Myers Park the next morning.

Sumter County Sheriff Pete Smith said as many as 10 arrests could be made in the case. He also said a safe with guns inside was stolen from the house. Crews were able to recover a lot of the stolen property Monday.

The safe and guns inside were what investigators say led Ruhemmeion King to Dallas Freeman's home.

Investigators believe the men are connected through a gang.

"Unfortunately this organized group of people is something real that is actually evident in Sumter County," said Col. Eric Bryant with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office. "We do have individuals that we have identified that may participate in some different organizations."

For that reason, Colonel Bryant wants people to be careful about what they post on social media. He reminds everyone that gang members have Facebook accounts as well, and can see posts about guns and other weapons.

"Be mindful of you putting your personal inventory on there. Most importantly [with] some of the comments that are being made or have been made, you have to be mindful of that because people sometimes interpret those things and take them the wrong way," Bryant warned.

Dallas Freeman was a known gun enthusiast, and authorities say he was targeted because of his guns.

It's a sad reminder of the lengths that criminals will take to get weapons.

But investigators note that the case is very complicated, because it involves an arson, double homicide, and a home burglary.

Hundreds gathered Wednesday for the Freeman's funeral. Bonnie was 54 and Dallas was 33.
