Black Suspect In Custody Following Shooting Of Anne Arundel County Officer
black cop-shooterMd. —An Anne Arundel County police officer is fighting for his life after he was shot in the line of duty early Friday morning. K-9’s, SWAT teams, detectives and patrol officers scoured the area, searching for the person who fired the gun. The incident started when the officer came to the 7-11 just before 2:30 a.m. and several witnesses reported a suspicious person nearby. Police say the officer approached the man and there was some kind of altercation. The man began to run and the officer followed him. That’s when the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the officer in the upper body. “Anybody that wants to turn their gun and fire towards a police officer is a cold, callous human being. That person has reckless disregard for anyone’s life and we absolutely consider this person armed and dangerous,” said Lt. TJ Smith, Anne Arundel County Police. According to authorities, a person of interest was located at approximately 9:00 a.m. in the 1800 block of Clay Hill Road, in Annapolis. Through investigate means police say that person of interest, 30-year-old Colvin Lamar White, of Annapolis, was identified as the shooter.

Phyllis Shmidt Thank goodness he was captured. But I'm a little upset at the Police. Our community has been on edge all day and according to this, the person of interest was captured at 9AM? Why could't they just tell us they had a "person of interest" in custody? Th...See More

Timothy Chick Bravo AACPD for catching this guy, but if he was caught at 9 am why just now release that? The people in the area of the shooting spent all day thinking that somebody was armed and dangerous was possibly still in the neighborhood. Prayers to all impacted by the days events

Shelly Phillips It blows my mind that people are complaining about the information not being released sooner. Your desire for on-demand information does not supercede the AACPD's need to do their job and to release information as they see fit. Unbelievable that some can be so selfish as to put their "need to know" above the success of an ongoing investigation.

Beverly Day Ryan A criminal is a criminal.....regardless of race. I wish people would stop pulling the race card every time a crime is committed. DON'T DO THE CRIME, IF YOU CAN'T DO THE TIME!!!
  •
Chris Block I'm so glad that we need to know everyone's race with breaking news... Why don't we just say "asshole, Colvin Lamar White, arrested" instead. I don't need to know his skin color, so tired of it being about that!

Michele Mitchell Young I was a cop in Tx and the police have to keep ALOT of information to themselves so not to jeopardize the case. They knew we in this area were not in any danger that's why there was no school lock down and more. Even though they might have had him in custody at 9am it's still an active case. They have a job to do and they did an AMAZING job getting him off the streets in less than 8 hrs.

Raymond Kight When cops can do this to a man in America then there is something wrong with cops and a government that won't hold them responsible.

Ted Daly Raymond, the news is "filled" with such examples (actually a tiny handful, run over and over for months) because the zillions of examples of police protection, kindness (or what the vast majority of them would call "just doing their job") isn't considered newsworthy.
